In recent years, magnetic refrigeration around room temperature has received renewed interest thanks to the development of materials with enhanced magnetocaloric effects and, in parallel, developments in thermal engineering techniques. The potential high efficiency and environmental compatibility of magnetic refrigeration make this method of cooling a future competitor to conventional gas compression technologies.
